Getting out and spending time outside is important. The fresh air and sunlight do a lot of good for our health. Sometimes though, it can be hard to find a fun reason to go outside. LA Jolla Mom has some fun ideas for how to spend time outside. Here are five fun outdoor games to try with family and friends!

Games with Balls

Almost everyone has some sort of ball laying around. If kicking or throwing it around has lost some fun try something new. Spikeball is a fun game that comes with a net-like trampoline and balls. It is a team game with each team being made up of two people. One person from a team throws it on the net and the other team takes turns trying to keep the ball on the net.

If you are up for a challenge, try bocce ball. While more complicated than spike ball, bocce ball is also a team sport. There are two teams that range from one to four people. The object is to roll the balls underneath to a target. The rules can be kind of tricky, but you are rewarded with fun when you play!

Board Game-Based Games

Board games are a family staple and are a lot of fun, so why not play them outside? Giant versions of your favorite board games are a great way to spend time in the sun. You could try giant Jenga, giant Tic-Tac-Toe, and giant Connect 4 to name a few! You can find giant options of these classic games online, with the rules being the same. The only thing that is different is the size!

Racket Games

If you enjoy tennis, try outdoor badminton. The set includes the net, poles, birdies, and rackets. This will be a fun competitive game for the whole family. If you want something a bit classic and less traditional at the same time, you might enjoy trackball. Trackball is a game where each player has a scoop-shaped trackball racket and players throw a ball back and forth. It becomes a bit challenging since players throw the ball at long distances and the wind could cause it to stray from its path.
