One of the best parts of fall is that it’s pumpkin time. Farmers’ pumpkins ripen, and many of them also open up their fields for pumpkin picking. Whether you like eating them, carving them, taking pictures with them, or doing all of the above, there are many patches to get your pumpkin fix in and near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Block out time one weekend to visit one of the following Pittsburgh pumpkin patches.

Cheeseman Farm

Located in Portersville, Cheeseman Farm is a short drive north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They offer hayrides to the patch, and you can pet live animals at the petting zoo. They also have a holiday gift shop to prepare for the winter season and other activities during their weekend Pumpkin Festivals.

Coolspring Farm

Coolspring Farm is adequately named because it is one of the cooler options on this list. They have your standard pumpkin patch hayride experience, but that only scratches the surface. You can also get lost in a corn maze, plunge a 40-foot slide, or bounce on the jumping pad. They also offer pedal tractor racing and pumpkin blasting. After the sun goes down, you can get a scare on the Trail of Fear, which opens on October 11. The Coolspring Farm pumpkin patch is located in Mercer, which is just north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Freedom Farms

Freedom Farms is a great place for the whole family. The farm has refreshments to sip on while your kids play in the corn and hay playground. It also has farm animals and a beautiful sunflower maze. The sunflower maze makes a stunning photo-op.

Simmons Farm

Simmons Farm opens in mid-September and stays open through early November. It is a fun place to spend the day. You can enjoy hot apple cider and partake in one of the farm’s many fall activities. Pumpkin carving, a butterfly house, pony rides, and live music are all part of the experience. Of course, you can also enjoy a scenic hayride to pick your pumpkin from a patch, and the farm is a short drive south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
