Calling all history buffs, Washington’s Trail 1753 is hosting the George Washington’s Travel Guide to Frontier Forts summit at the Butler Country Club on April 20. It’ll run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature speakers, networking opportunities, vendors, and an auction. Oh, and you’ll even get breakfast and lunch, all for the $60 registration fee. Learn more about the summit and grab your ticket to attend.
Take a Deep Dive Into Frontier Forts
Experts are lined up to cover some of history’s most significant forts, including Fort Necessity. It cemented its place in history with the Battle of Fort Necessity, which historians view as the launching pad for the French and Indian War. That war was the spark colonists needed to come together for the American Revolution. With so much history, the presentation on Fort Necessity is a must-attend.
You also won’t want to miss the presentations on the following forts:
- Pitt
- Ligonier
- Machault
- Venango
- Le Boeuf
- Cumberland
The summit’s speakers are known for providing information not readily available in history books. Thus, you’ll learn a lot at this event, even if you’re already a bit of a fort expert.
Pick up Items for Your Collection
Washington’s Trail 1753 hasn’t provided a list of vendors yet, but they’ll be related to the summit’s theme. You’ll have ample time to shop but be sure to save some money for the auction. Keep in mind that this won’t be your standard auction. Instead, you’ll purchase tickets for bidding. If you place the highest number of tickets in the jar, you’ll win that item. The auction is always popular at the annual summit, and people have scored some cool items over the years.
